This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it， click here。 Hello this book was amazing。 I am a lover of wlw books。 But I have a particular kind of book I love。 And not all books make the cut。 I absolutely LOVED this book and if I could give it 10 stars I would。 Scarlett and Quinn are the best。 Enemies to lovers。 Very protective fierce woman。 Loved every minute of it。 I also don't particularly like fantasy books because all the world building and the otherworldly stuff is so hard for me to follow。 But Ruby Roe can write and I could follow。 Honestly， some Hello this book was amazing。 I am a lover of wlw books。 But I have a particular kind of book I love。 And not all books make the cut。 I absolutely LOVED this book and if I could give it 10 stars I would。 Scarlett and Quinn are the best。 Enemies to lovers。 Very protective fierce woman。 Loved every minute of it。 I also don't particularly like fantasy books because all the world building and the otherworldly stuff is so hard for me to follow。 But Ruby Roe can write and I could follow。 Honestly， sometimes you read a great book and the great story carries it。 But this was amazing writing and such a good story。 Can't wait to read the next。。。I know I will love Stirling and Morrigan too。 So glad this book was recommended to me。 So good。 The end。PLEASE DON'T READ FURTHER THESE NOTES HAVE SPOILERS。 I JUST HAVE A HARD TIME REMEMBERING WHAT I READ SO I TAKE NOTES。 IF THERE WERE A WAY TO HIDE THESE I WOULD。。。YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED。。。。THE LIST1。 BADASS HEROINE - Scarlett is an assassin and Quinn is a poisoner。 So they both are lethal。 My favorite kind of Badass2。 FORCED PROXIMITY - during their mission they have to share a bed3。 H RESCUES H - a couple times Scarlett has to rescue Quinn。 Once during training。 And once on during missions。 The way the author writes the moment Scarlett realizes Quinn is in trouble I can feel the emotions coming off the page4。 I WOULD DIE FOR YOU - Scarlett is willing to die at Quinn's hands if it makes things right for her5。 I WOULD KILL FOR YOU - Yes to both of them。 But specifically Scarlett has that killing tendency6。 INJURED H - Quinn is stabbed and Scarlett sees it happen。 And also is there to do what she can to save her7。 OTHER WOMAN DRAMA - a little。 Part of the team has Quinn's ex。 And Scarlett is quite jealous of their history8。 POST APOCOLYPTIC - the book is fantasy but has this feel especially when they cross the borderlands9。 SAPPHIC - yes Quinn and Scarlett both a women10。 SCARRED - Scarlett is an assassin and has lots of scars11。 STRAP - Scarlett wears a strap12。 SURVIVAL - The concept of the mission feels very survival like to me。Summary will be in the last part of the book。。。。Just so I can find it。 。。。more

TLDR: A sexy romp through a tech/magic fantasy world that needs well-rounded side characters。I’m not someone who typically enjoys heist stories because they have a tendency to be formulaic and predictable。 While A Game of Hearts and Heists suffers from some of these issues， the enemies-to-lovers relationship makes the journey sinfully fun。 Scarlett Grey and Quinn Adams want to kill each other for interfering with business。 Quinn’s apothecary poisons are slowly replacing Scarlett’s assassin contr TLDR: A sexy romp through a tech/magic fantasy world that needs well-rounded side characters。I’m not someone who typically enjoys heist stories because they have a tendency to be formulaic and predictable。 While A Game of Hearts and Heists suffers from some of these issues， the enemies-to-lovers relationship makes the journey sinfully fun。 Scarlett Grey and Quinn Adams want to kill each other for interfering with business。 Quinn’s apothecary poisons are slowly replacing Scarlett’s assassin contracts。 If Scarlett doesn’t find work soon， she and her sister will be evicted from their ramshackle house。 Meanwhile， Quinn is desperate to make enough coins to buy a remedy for her ailing brother。 When the pair are commissioned to steal half of a map， it seems like the perfect solution to their money problems if they can keep from screwing or killing each other。Far and away， the best aspect of this story is Scarlett and Quinn。 Their inner monologues are hilarious because they’re constantly at war with their id and ego。 Imagine sex being as instinctual as breathing。 They fall into each other because they can’t help their attraction。 But they can’t indulge their senses while worrying about the future， so the battle rages on。 I was curious if their relationship would evolve into something more than lust， and it does。 However， their competing interests keep them from laying all their cards on the table until the end。 And this was an excellent choice by the author because some of the revelations are shocking。My chief complaint is that the side characters are one-dimensional， so as they’re working through their training montage in preparation for the heist it never feels like the characters bond with one another。 That’s unfortunate because they have the potential to be much more。 So， whenever Scarlett and Quinn aren’t pulled into each other’s orbit， scenes feel flat or rushed。 However， considering this is the author’s debut novel， I believe this book shows great potential for the future。 I hope the next book in the series is about Scarlett’s sister， Stirling。 She is the most fleshed-out side character。Oh， and please cut down on the use of “oxygen！” It’s used too often to describe the lust for kissing。Should you read this book？ If you delight in unabashed lust， sex scenes， and enemies-to-lover then you will love it。 I wouldn’t say this book is for those who prefer romance。 It’s certainly not for prudes。 Scarlett is kinky and intent on possession and throwing a woman into bed。 She’s not the type to light candles， spread rose petals， and make dinner。 I like diversity in my lesbian fiction， so I enjoy seeing a woman being wicked about what she wants。 This was fun to read in spite of its flaws。 。。。more

I was confused by the time period because they had carriages， bikes and cars but not other technologies like phones。 The conflict between Scarlett and the border lord was resolved too quickly， and so was the the third act betrayal and break-up between the two main characters。 And Scarlett and Quinn’s dynamic felt a little too repetitive after a while。

sometimes you start a book， you get 15% through and you decided that it’s 5 stars。 and sometimes that book just happens to be about 2 assassins， who absolutely despise each other but are also totally in love。 scarlett was an absolute gem of a character。 her characterisation and motivations behind her actions were so entirely human and understandable that you find yourself rooting for her。 and then on the other side of things you’ve got quinn and you can’t help but feel bad for her because of the sometimes you start a book， you get 15% through and you decided that it’s 5 stars。 and sometimes that book just happens to be about 2 assassins， who absolutely despise each other but are also totally in love。 scarlett was an absolute gem of a character。 her characterisation and motivations behind her actions were so entirely human and understandable that you find yourself rooting for her。 and then on the other side of things you’ve got quinn and you can’t help but feel bad for her because of the circumstances of the story。 i think one of my favourite dynamics of this book was the fact that despite both of the main characters being incredibly powerful and deadly in their own ways， scarlett was still so protective over quinn， and the way that quinn embraces that and let’s scarlett see her softer side。 the sibling relationship between scarlett and stirling is one of the best sibling relationships i’ve read in a book。 it was so real and the banter between the pair was so incredibly like me and my sibling that it meant i was obviously going to adore their relationship。 the remaining side characters were also very loveable。 and i’m so so happy that in book two we will get to explore morrigan and stirling’s relationship。 this book was truly a joy to read and is definitely one of the best books i’ve read so far this year and i cannot wait to see what the author does next。 。。。more

I loved this book！ Fabulous enemies to lovers book where the main characters don't know if they want to off each other or。。。。Scarlett is an assassin and Quinn is a poisoner and they are fighting for turf in their city。 When the queen asks them to do a job， they must team up with others and learn to work together。These characters share so much witty banter but also lots of moments that will make you go awwwwww。 The multiple kinds of tension between the two is so palpable and the secondary charact I loved this book！ Fabulous enemies to lovers book where the main characters don't know if they want to off each other or。。。。Scarlett is an assassin and Quinn is a poisoner and they are fighting for turf in their city。 When the queen asks them to do a job， they must team up with others and learn to work together。These characters share so much witty banter but also lots of moments that will make you go awwwwww。 The multiple kinds of tension between the two is so palpable and the secondary characters help out with this， especially Scarlett's sister who has impeccable timing ;） I laughed out loud often but also groaned in sympathy for Scarlett and Quinn。I'm not usually a fantasy reader but the concept of this book intrigued me and I absolutely love the world-building。 I want to read more from this realm and can't wait for the next book。If you like fantasy， spicy scenes， and enemies to lovers， then this book is definitely for you。 。。。more

Sadly， I didn't like this one。 Which is surprising， because I really enjoyed the first half of it。 The more I read though， the more it lost me。 The angst between the two main characters got to be too much for me。 Like， the knife-to-throat and sexual tension was fun for a bit， but I got tired of it。 I ended up disengaging， so the entire heist group faded into an indistinguishable blob。 I wanted to love this one， and I can definitely see people loving it， but it wasn't for me。 Thanks to Paper Myth Sadly， I didn't like this one。 Which is surprising， because I really enjoyed the first half of it。 The more I read though， the more it lost me。 The angst between the two main characters got to be too much for me。 Like， the knife-to-throat and sexual tension was fun for a bit， but I got tired of it。 I ended up disengaging， so the entire heist group faded into an indistinguishable blob。 I wanted to love this one， and I can definitely see people loving it， but it wasn't for me。 Thanks to Paper Myths Book Tours for providing a free copy 。。。more

Graphic Sapphic！！！Well， wow。。。what do I say？When I was offered an ARC of this debut by Ruby Roe， I read the blurb and thought， yup， I could do with a bit of spice to warm me up on these cold nights。What it didn't say in that blurb was that， along with the enemies-to-lovers trope and all the electrifying sexual chemistry， tension and extremely detailed intimate scenes， this would be a story that kept you reading way past when you should be putting your book down。The two MCs， Scarlett and Quinn， a Graphic Sapphic！！！Well， wow。。。what do I say？When I was offered an ARC of this debut by Ruby Roe， I read the blurb and thought， yup， I could do with a bit of spice to warm me up on these cold nights。What it didn't say in that blurb was that， along with the enemies-to-lovers trope and all the electrifying sexual chemistry， tension and extremely detailed intimate scenes， this would be a story that kept you reading way past when you should be putting your book down。The two MCs， Scarlett and Quinn， are sworn enemies in business， but no one can doubt their connection。 Everyone feels the sizzle when they look at each other。Thing is， they both have secrets。When they are thrown together to work on a secret project for their mutual benefit， things get hot and handy pretty fast。But the story itself was intriguing， and I was hooked。 I love the world-building， and the different characters， though we don't get to know too much about the others。 Thing is， with the heat from these two， there isn't much space in your reading mind to consider the others that much！（I am soooo glad there is a sequel， so we can get to know some of the other characters a little better！）I finished it in a day。 Honestly。 Could not put it down！ 。。。more
